Impurity Behavior during the H-Mode in JFT-2M

In JFT-2M, impurity behax'iors during the H-mode were studied by the spectroscopic method. During the 1-I-mode without Edge-Localized Modes (ELMs), emissions of highly ionized ton littes increased with time, althottgh emissions of lessionized ion lines decreased just after the H-mode transition atnd kept constant withtime. It was found from time behavior of emissions ccf impurity ion lines and the ironion density profiles that not only metal impurity but also light impurity accumulatednear the plasma center during the ELM-free El-r.'xode. Duritag the El-mode withELMs, the impurity accumulation was relaxed by the onset ot' this instability cornpared with the ELM-free 11-mode.II-mode, impurity accumulation, spectroscopic measurement, enhanced particleconfinement, Edge-Localized Modes (ELMs), radiation losses, impuritytransport, JFT-2M
