EPR measurements have been made on a Fe" centre in single crystals of Bi.WO, atroom temperature using X-band spectrometer. The fine structure interaction is muchstronger than the Zeeman interaction and the principal (-axis of the second-rank finestructure tcnsor is close to the direction of the crystalline layer axis (#-axis). It isfound from superposition-model analyses of the fine-structure parameters that theEl-l'34 ' j.fFe' non substmtutes for a Bl' non. T e large magnutudes o the parametersZ7'll=1.40(1),#N= -0.36(1),#;= -0.09(1),#.]'=0.34(l) and Z>]'=0.23(1)cm'ob-tained in the (c*#)-coordinate system are explained by a deviation of Fe" ion mainlyalong the #-axis, so the piramidal structure of the centre in Bi.O. layer is flattenedfrom that of host crystal.[EPR, Bi.W0, Fe", fine-structure parameters, superposition model, local con- ll figuration of ligandsl
