ENDOR Investigations on Hyperfine Interactions in CsCaF_3 Doped with Mn^<2+>

ENDOR measurements have been made in CsCaF. : Mn" to investigate theunpaired spin densities on the nearest neighbour fluorine tons (Fl) in relation tothe hyperfine (hf) interactions with the second neighbour fluorine (F2) nuclei.From the ENDOR spectra of Fl, it has been obtained that /.=0.45 '% and f. -/.0.87 % where f, f. and /;. are unpaired spin fractions in the 2s, 2p, and 2p. orbitalson Fl, respectively. For F2 the trace of the hf tensor a is 0.042 Mllz. The resultconfirms the tendency that the value of tr a for Mn" and Fe" centres in per-ovskite fluorides is small when the outermost shell of the host divalent cation isnot d orbitals.
