Pairing Correlation in the Three-Leg Hubbard Ladder-Renormalization Group and Quantum Monte Carlo Studies

In order to investigarte the validity of 21 conjecttrre that correlated electrons in ladders havingexzen-nurnbered legs exhibit strpercondtrctivity accompanied by 21 spin gap while odd ones donot, the pairing correlation is sttrdied for the three-leg ladder in the Hubbard model, Both therenornaalization grotrp for weak interactions and the qtnanttrzn IVIonte Carlo (QIIVIC) za'xethod forstrong interactions are enaployed. The weak-cotrpling sttrdy predicts that the supercondtrctingcor'relation dozninates, which reftrtes the raative even-odd conjecttzre. A crtzciatl point is that a spingap for only sonae otrt of rntrltiple spin ttaodes can strffice to rtaake the ladder strpercondtrct witha pairing syatanaetry (d-like here) counpatible with the gapped rnode. A QNIC study endorses theenhanced pairing correlation for stronger HttJvbard reptnJsions. Ef['ects of' Uznklapp processes arrealso elucidated. A S1112111 energy scale relevant here reqtrires a care in the QIVIC related to thediscreteness of one-electron levels. This ar'trrnent is reinforced fronu the result for an exactlysoIvab[e, one-dimensional attractive Hubbard rnodel.
