The structure of 1,4-Bis(<I>p</I>-bromophenoxy) butane has been determined by means of a single-crystal X-ray analysis. The compound crystallizes in the monoclinic space group <I>Cc</I>, with four molecules per unit cell: <I>a</I>=13.426, <I>b</I>=15.249, <I>c</I>=7.650 Å, and β=89.39°. The structure has been solved by the heavy-atom method. The final discrepancy index is 0.068 for 970 non-zero reflections. The conformation of the methylene chain in the –O(CH<SUB>2</SUB>)<SUB>4</SUB>O– group is <I>gauche-trans-gauche</I>, with internal rotation angles of 61.0, 181.0, and 55.2° respectively.
