The crystal and molecular structure of <I>N</I>-carboxy anhydride(NCA) of glycine was determined from three-dimensional X-ray diffraction data. The crystals of glycine-NCA are monoclinic with space group C2/c and <I>Z</I>=8; the cell dimensions are <I>a</I>=9.298(2), <I>b</I>=5.156(2), <I>c</I>=16.900(4) Å and β=107.88(2)°. A pair of molecules forms the dimer structure around a center of symmetry, with two N(1)–H(1)···O(1′) hydrogen bonds in the crystals.
