Peroxidase-like catalytic activity of ion-exchange resins modified with manganese, cobalt, iron and copper complexes of some porphyrins to accelerate the following dye formation reaction was evaluated by the use of the resins in place of peroxidase. phenol+4-aminoantipyrine+2H_2O_2<pcroxidase>___→quinoid dye+4H_2O The resin modified with manganese(III)tetrakis(sulfophenyl)porphine showed an activity of 80% of that of peroxidase, suggesting that it may be useful as a mimesis of peroxidase. The activities of the resins were retained even after repeated use (ten times).
