A mutant having increased sensitivity to growth inhibition by indole-3-acetic acid (IAA) was obtained from the yeast, Saccharomyces cerevisiae. Besides IAA hyper-sensitivity, the mutant showed a slow growth rate, cell aggregation, abnormal cell morphology, and a failure of nucleus transfer into daughter cells. These characteristics were caused by a single recessive mutation apparently allelic to cdc31.
