High-Temperature Spin Dynamics in the S=1/2 Spin Ladder (VO)_2P_2O_7 Studied by ^<31>P NMR

• XX7e have observed a tnarked frequency (cu) dependence of the "P nuclear spin-lattice relaxationrate I/T) in the spin-1/2 two-leg ladder compound (VO)2P2O7 at temperatures well above thespin gap. The l/'Z'l is fotrnd to show an c; "' dependence above a certain cutoff frequency,indicating one-dimensional difl'ttsive spin dynamics along the leg of ladders. We have also foundthat the spin-difltrsion constant increases rapidly with decreasing ternperature. This nuay berelated to the increase of the antiferrornagnetic correlation length within tlae ladder at lowtemperatures.
