Raman scattering spectra of single crystals of SC(NH.). were observed in thetemperature range from 300 K to 77 K especially in the frequency region 0?200cm- '. The previous reports that there is a soft mode whose frequency decreasesas the transition point 14 (202 K) is approached from below are confirmed. Thesoft mode frequency shows tlte scattering vector dependence in the ferroelectricphase. The incommensurate successive phase transitions in SC(NU.). are dis-cussed in relation to the observed soft mode. The soft mode is inferred to bemainly the Iibrational mode B 2 ..(#) of SC(NH.). molecules, whose axis of librationis parallel to the c-axis.
