Spin Reorientation in Fe/Nd Multilayered Films from Neutron Diffraction Experiments

Spin reorientation phetaomena in Fe/Nd multilayered films are investigated byneutron diffraction and magnetization me:asurements. Averagc: ntagnetic xttoments ofthe Fe and Nd layers are estiunated at various temperatures in tlte presence of appliedfields. In tlte field of 9.4 kOe, 110 spixa reorientation is observed in tlae Fe lrtyer evexa at24 K. In contrast, tlae Nd layer shows tl?e spin reoriexatation. 111 weaker fields, tlce spinreorientation is observed both iua the Fe and Nd layers. Tlaese facts indicate tlaat tlaeperpendicular anisotropy of tlte Nd layer is a main origin of the spin rec>rientation.[spin reorientation, multilayer, Fe/.NId, uaeutron diffraction, perpendicular ]l anisotropyl
