Excess Oxygen Doping in Single Crystals of La_<2-x>Bi_xCuO_<4+δ> with or without Macroscopic Phase Separation

Systematic heat treatments have been performed using single crystals of Lad .Bi.CuO,),;,5 tostudy the effect of oxygen doping on the phase stability as well as the three-dimensional magneticorder. For LazCuOq;,5, the analysis of magnetic susceptibility peak near the Neel temperatureTg revealed that the continuous decrease of '#'N upon doping is terminated at 280 K. The furtherdoping additionally induces the previously reported macroscopic phase separation accompanyingan antiferromagnetic phase with 'Z'N : 265 K and a superconducting one with 'Z'C< 35 K. On theother hand, for Lad .Bi.CuO.(j5 with x x 0.05 no rnacroscopic phase separation was observedup to b $ 0.02. Upon the oxygen doping, the 'Z'N continuously decreases from 310 K to below10 K only by the heat treatrnent. The scaling behavior of magnetic ssusceptibility previouslystudied by the powder sample of Lad .SrxCu0,q?.5 was reexamined in this system.
