Critical Slowing-Down and Static Dielectric Constant of Monoclinic RbD_2PO_4

The real and imaginary parts of the complex dielectric constant along the b axis ofmonoclinic RbDzP0. were measured in a frequency range between 10' Hz and 10'Hz. It was found that RbD.PO. shows dielectric critical slowing-down near the fer-rielectric phase transition point. In addition, the static dielectric constants (c.) ofRbDzPO. and the partially deuterated crystal Rb(Dg.,H..7)zP0. were also measured at10' Hz. A theoretical expression of e. for a ferrielectric phase transition was obtainedon the basis of the quasi-one-dimensional [sing model with assvxmed two sublattices.The remarkable deviations of e. from the Curie-Weiss law observed in these crystalswere analyzed successfully by the present theoretical result and the experimentalresults were discussed.
