Optical observation of twin structures, X-ray examinations and the measurementof the dielectric constant of (NH.).H(Se0.)z were carried out in reference to the phasetransition at 29'C (7'.). It was found that (NH.).H(Se0.). undergoes the improperferro-elastic phase transition at T.. The crystal is determined to be monoclinic withthe space group AX/ a below T. and trigonal with the space group Ram above T.. Thecrystal has spontaneous strain (e.. -e..)/2= -3.0X 10 'and e..=3.3 X 10 'at roomtemperature. It was clarified by both observation of domains and symmetry consideration that the crystal exhibits twin structures with two types of domain walls and threekinds of domain orientations at room temperature. The behaviour of the dielectricconstant observed near T. is well explained by the Landau theory.
