Dielectric and Dilatometric Studies of Phase Transitions in (ND_4)_3D (SeO_4)_2 and Isotope Effect

Dielectric and dilatometric measurements were made for the deuteratedcrystal (ND4)3D(SC04)2. For comparison the dilatometric measurement was alsomade for the undeuterated crystal (NH,03(Se0.).. Two phase transitions werefound at -T-55'C and at about -t-29'Cfor (NH4)31-I(SC04)2 besides the two r>hasetransitions previously reported. Deuteration rises the Curie temperature byabout 34'C, showing important role of the 0--H -0 bonds playing in theferroelectric transition. The Curie-Weiss constant and spontaneous polarizationof the deuterated crystal are 3.7xl0'K and2.4pC"em-' at -I70'C,respectively.
