X-Ray Diffraction Study on a New Incommensurate Phase Transition in Ferroelectric (NH_4)_2ZnBr_4

X-ray diffraction study on the phase transitions in (NH.).ZnBr. was made. Itwas found that the crystal has a new phase between 1 22 'C and 1 59 'C characterizedby the incommensurate structure ((5 =/-0) with the satellite reflections of (# k l .4.(1/4-F-(5)) tvre and has the surerlattice structure with the (h lc l-I=I/3) reflectionsbelow the ferroelectric transition point, -56.5'C. The commensurate structurewith the (h k l .1.1 /4) reflections is observed between l22'C and - 56.5'C.
