NMR and Thermal Expansion of the Gd (Co_<1-x>Ni_x)_2 Compounds

In order to understand the magnetic behavior of Co atoms in Gd(Co. -,Ni,).compounds, the "Co nuclear magnetic resonance and the thermal expansionhave been measured. The analysis of NMR spectra at 4.2 K, based on a nearestnet:bor confisuration model, leads to a concentration independent Co moment orabout 1 p.. This result is supported by the concentration dependence of thespontaneous volume magnetostriction derived from thermal expansion measure-ments.
