Effects of Orbital Degeneracy and Electron Correlation on Charge Dynamics in Perovskite Manganese Oxides

Takin'ng the orbital degeneracy of e. conduction bands and the Covtlonab interaction into accountin a dotmble-exchange model, we investigate the charge dynamics of perovskite lVIn oxides by theLancz6s diagonalization method. In the unetallic phase near the IN/Iott insulator, it is found thatthe optical conductivity for a spin-polarized two-dinaensional systeraa exhibits a weight transferto a broad and incoherent structure within the lower-Htrbbard band together with a svrppressedDrude weight. It reproduces a qualitative feature of the experirnental restrlts. As an orbitaleffect, we find that an anomalous charge correlation at quarter filling stzppresses the coherentcharge dynarmics and signals prectrrsor to the charge ordering.
