Theory of One-Magnon and Two-Magnon Spectra of TMMC in a Magnetic Field

A theory is developed on one- and two-magnon excitations of a one-dimensional Heisenberg antiferromagnet in a magnetic field with a particular reference to TMMC. The effect of nonlinear couplings among magnons is studied in details. It is shown that the magnetic field causes a hybridization between one- and two-magnon states through the third-order coupling. This coupling is shown to be quite important to understand the result of recent neutron scattering on TMMC by Heilmann et al.
