Lattice Dynamics and Invar Properties in f.c.c FeMn Alloy

Using inelastic neutron scattering the phonon dispersion relations in a singlecrystal of face centered cubic Feo.vMno.a have been determined at several tempera-tures above and below the N<Set temr>erature of 412 K. The shifts of the frequenciesof the [110]7'1 mode below Ts have been observed, which eventuallv uives theelastic softeninu similar to the rrevious observation in the tvr>ical ferromazneticInvar Of FC0.65N]0.35 Of FCo.vzPto.zs. Lattxce dynamzcl features 111 th1S rnaterualare discussed with respect to the Invar characters in the f.c.c. FeMn alloys.
