Phenomenological Theory of Successive Phase Transitions in Mixed Perovskite-Type Oxides

Successive phase transitions in the mixed crystal with perovskite structure (1-x)ABO_3+xA'B'O_3 are discussed on a phenomenological basis. After a short review on the experimental facts, a simple scheme is proposed to predict the phase diagrams of mixed crystals when the model parameters of constituent substances are known. It is showm that the applications of the present scheme to (Ba_<1-x>Pb_x)TiO_3, (Ba_<1-x>Sr_x)TiO_3 and Ba(Ti_<1-x>Hf_x)O_3 yield the results which are in good accord with experiments.
