A new theory is proposed to calculate the density of states in disordered system. This is an approach opposite to Hubbard's alloy-analogy for the electron correlation problem in a narrow energy band. Averaged ground state energy of a disordered system is evaluated as a function of electron density in the Gutzwiller approximation. Then the density of states is derived by differentiating the ground state energy with respect to electron density. New theory is tested for a simplified band model and the results of numerical calculation are compared with those of the previous conventional theory.
