Treatment of O^2,2'-cyclocytidine hydrochloride (I) with lithium azide in dimethylformamide at an elevated temperature gave 6,2'-triazacyclocytidine (II) (47.5%) and 2'-azido-2'-deoxycytidine (III) (10.8%). The structure of II was confirmed by physicochemical experiments.
