Circulation times in mycelial suspensions of Penicillium chrysogenum and in paper pulp suspensions were measured in stirred vessels of various sizes. Distributions of circulation times under various operating conditions approximately fitted distribution curves of the logarithmic normal probability, and the distribution curves were less affected by rheological properties of suspensious with increasing vessel size. In the turbulent regime, the mean circulation times were found to be proportional to P_v^<-1/3> in each vessel regardless of the air flow rate and the rheological properties of suspensions. Also, it was found that the operating condition required to achieve the same distrbution curve of circulatioon times in geometrically similar but different sized vessels is to make the values of P_v/D^2 equal to each other.
