We study the thermodynamic properties of the spin 1 /2 quantum XXZ model withthe X I-like anisotropy on the 4 X 4 square lattice by diagonalizing the Hamiltoniannumerically. The temperature dependence of the energy, the specific heat and theuniform susceptibility are reported. The staggered and the in-plane magnetizations atthe ground state are also calc:ulated.[quantum spin system, anisotropy, square lattice, exact diagonalization, ther- ll modynamic property, ground statel
