We have generated high-temperature series expansion for the layer susceptibility x_1 and the local susceptibility x_<1,1> of the classical n-vector model on the semi-infinite simple cubic lattice. The surface-to-bulk ratio of the nearest-neighbor exchange couplings, w =J_s/J, is taken to be a parameter and the series are analyzed up to the 10th order for arbitrary n. These analyses show that the layer susceptibility exponent γ_1 has the ordinary transition-like universal behavior. Resulting values for γ_1 are compared with recent theories and experiments (for Ni).
