The charge distribution among graphite layers in graphite intercalation compounds,C...M (n>3, M=K, Rb, Cs) is calculated on the basis of a two-dimensional bandstructure for each layer. Electronic states in each layer are described within theframework of the tight-binding method taking into account the polarization of toorbitals of carbon atoms. It is shown that more than 90% of the excess electronstransferred from donor intercalants are localized on the bounding graphite layers. Thestage dependences of electronic specific heat and resistivity of the compounds arediscussed in relation to the calculated charge distribution.
