Superconducting transition temperatures (T_c) are studied for a tight binding model with local interactions in two dimensions in connection with van Hove singularities. In the presence of on-site and nearest-neighbor interactions, T_c for the d-pairing, which is most favorable in this case, is calculated, and a useful relation, T_c(μ, δ)≅T_c(μ-δ, 0), is given, where μ and δ are the chemical potential and the next-nearest-neighbor hopping integrals. At the van Hoves ingularity, the analytic expression for T_c is obtained and shown to agree well with the numerical results. The possibility of the enhancement of T_c due to the van Hove singularity is briefly disscussed for high-T_c superconductors.
