Monte Carlo calculation was performed for the in-plane susceptibility 7 of10 X Y model with S = 1 /2 and S : 1. The critical index 7 of z estimated fromthe resutt ror .5:1/2 agrees well with that (7=1.5) derived rrom the exact spin-correlation given by McCoy. The critical index y for .5=1 is estimated to bevery close to that (7=2) of the classical (.5= co) model.
