Enmein (I) is a diterpenoid bitter principle which has been isolated from Isodon trichocarpus KUDO. The present paper deals with isolation of enmein and a related diterpene from Isodon japonicus HARA. The latter proved to have the structure of enmein 3-acetate (II) on the basis of spectral and chemical evidence.
