• The chemical structures of saponin B (I) (=chikusetsusaponin IV), C_<47>H_<74>O_<18>, [α]^<18>_D -9.10° (pyridine) and saponin C (III) (=desarabinofuranosylchikusetsusaponin IV), C_<42>H_<66>O_<14>, [α]^<18>_D +15.8° (MeOH), which were isolated from Panax pseudoginseng subsp. himalaicus var. angustifolius (Araliaceae), were established on the basis of physical data and chemical investigations.
