Structural, Magnetic, Transport and Thermal Properties of Ucu_2Sn, Upt_2Sn and UAu_2Al

Ternary uranium compounds UCu.Sn and UAu.Al have been found to crystallizein the hexagonal ZrPt,Al- and orthorhombic YPd.Si-type structures, respectively.Magnetic-susceptibility, electric-resistivity and specific-heat measurements reveal thatUCU2S[l, UPt.Sn and UAu.Al undergo antiferromagnetic transitions at 16.6, 60 and25 K, respectively. With decreasing temperature below IN, the resistivity of UCu.Snexhibits a pronounced peak, whereas those of the other two show a precipitous drop.The extrapolated value of C/ T at 0 K ranges from 17 mJ / K' mol for UPtzSn to 102mJ /K' mol for UAu.Al.
