Analyzing Powers for (P,t) Transitions to the First-Excited 2^+ States of Medium-Mass Nuclei and Nuclear Collective Motion

Vector analyzing powers A(0) and differential cross sections o(0) have beenmeasured by use of a polarized proton beam of 22.0 MeV for ( p, t) reactions leadingto the first-excited 2" (27 ) states of the eighteen nuclei of 7V=50-82: """"Mo,98?100?lO2g., l02?lO4?lO6?108pj, 110?ll2?ll4(j, 1165., 120?126?l28?...jl36g3.j..jjjjj.. .?(?)ando(0) for """'Pd(7t, t) """'Pd(0.;, 27 ) have been measured at E.=52.2 MeV. Theresults are analyzed in terms of the first- and second-order DWBA including both inelastic two-step and sequential transfer (p, d)(d, t) two-step processes. Interferencebetween the direct and the two-step processes is important. The nuclear-structurewave functions are constructed under the boson expansion method and the quasiparticle random phase approximation method.
