Some Aspects of Cranked Harmonic Oscillator Model : Nuclear Physics

Various consequences of the cranked harmonic oscillator (CHO) model are investigated. The effects of ΔN=2 admixtures are ignored. Total energy in the rotating frame is minimized by fixing the cranked-potential volume at definite angular velocity. This postulate results in the self-consistency equation. The CHO eigenstate is shown to be a minimum-uncertainty state. Angular momentum projection on this state is discussed. Effective interactions in rotating nuclei are derived.
