Aspects of Boson Expansion Theories

We first emphasize that, for a boson-expansion theory (BET) to be useful, it must use the Tamm-Dancoff representation, or its equivalent, from the beginning. Further, it must be formulated in such a way that the boson expanded operators contain only linked-cluster terms and are justified to act upon ideal-boson states. We show that a new BET which we formulated recently satisfies all these requirements. We show further that our old BET is included as a part of this new BET, and thus that our previous realistic calculations were based on a well-justified formalism.
