The diffusion of cosmic-ray neutrons in the atmosphere is calculated by using recent experimental value on neutron cross sections for the computation of the age τ. It is found that the correct boundary condition at the top of the atmosphere is necessary for the analysis of the data at stratosphere. Assuming the neutron sources to be stars, the altitude variation and the absolute density of slow neutrons is obtained and compared with experiments.
