On the Ferroelectric Phase of Lead Orthovanadate Pb_3(VO_4)_2 Crystal

X-ray scattering experiments of Pb,(VO.). using a monodomain crystal were car-ried out above and below the ferroelectric transition temperature T.=273 K. Thespace groups were confirmed to be C :. - P2. / c and C '. - .42 above and below T., re-spectively. The ferroelastic and ferroelectric phase transitions with decreasing temper-ature are due to the instabilities at the F-point and the f-point, respectively, of thehigh-temperature trigonal phase.[lead orthovanadate, space group, ferroelectric phase
