X-ray scattering experiraaeutts of lead ortltovanadate, Pb.(VO.)., NVCI-C carried outabove and below the ferroelectric transition temperature 7'.=273 K, usinag a mouaodo-xnaiua crystal. The space groups were confirnted to be C ';?.-P2. / c azad C '.-A 2 aboveand below 7"2, respectively. The structure anal)'ses were conducted at several tempera-tures ixa botla phases. The R-factors xvere less than 0.060 above T. and 0.045 below T..Tlte spontaneous polarizations were calculated from the atomic positiccns 111 the fer-roelectric phase and compared with tl?e values observed by 1.he pyroelectric measure-ment by Midorikawa et at. The mechanism of the ferroelectric phase transition is dis-cussed in terms of the mode of atomic displacements.lead ortltovanadate, X-ray structure analysis, monodomain crystal
