Dielectric Evidence for Low Temperature Phase Transitions in Ferroelectric Rb_2CoCl_4 and Rb_2CoBr_4 Crystals

Single crystals of Rb.CoC]. and Rb.CoBr. were grown from melt, and di-electric constants were measured along the three crysta[[ographic axes down toliquid helium temperature. Below the ferroelectric Curie temperature T. (T.==:192 K for Rb.CoCl. and 180 K for RbzCoBrp) there are one phase transitionat 66 K in Rb.CoCl. and two transitions at 95 K and 65 K in Rb.CoBr.. Di-electric anomalies at these low temperature transitions in Rb.CoX3 (X: Cl, Br)are quite similar to those in the corresponding Rb.ZnXg crystals.
