Magnetic Properties and Phase Diagram of Mixed Crystal Ce_<1-x>Nd_xAg

Specific heat, AC susceptibility and magnetization have been measured on themixed crystal of the cubic (CsCI-type) rare earth intermetallic compound Ce.-.Nd.Ag (0:$,v$l). From the estimation of the magnetic contribution to thespecific heat, it is found that Ce ton has a doublet state and Nd ion has a quartetstate for the ground 4f energy level at any concentration of Nd. The magneticx - T phase diagram was obtained from the temperature of the maximum in thespecific heat and the susceptibility and the temperature of the magnetizationdisappearance. For 0.5<x<0.8 antiferromagneticeweak-ferromagnetic phasetransition occurs, where no anomalous behaviour in the specific heat is observed.This is analyzed to be due to the existence of a strong higher-order interactionin addition to the simple molecular field as #...j(exchange field):2W-F-2'V'.
