Magnetic and Mossbauer Study of Sputtered Amorphous Alloys Hf_<1-x>Ta_xFe_2

We laave measured tlae xmagnetization and N46ssbauer effect on vapor-quencltedamorphous Hf.-..Ta..Fe. alloys prepared by sputtering for .v=0, 0.3, 0.5, 0.7, 0.9 andI from 4.2 to 300 K. We observed t}te sporztaneous nvagnelization for all the presexatS2LI11PlCS except for x= 1, where tlae ferromagnetic moment and Curie texnperaturentonotonically decrease with increasing Ta concexatration. A coxaaparison between tlteferromagnetic auad paramagnetic monaents suggests that tlae alloys are an itinerant-electron ferromagnet. T1?e reduced low'-temperature magnetization falls characteris-tically below that of cr)'stalline HfFez and follows a T"" law, Front the broadM6ssbauer s?cectrum below tl?e Curie temperature we estimate tlae avera);e layperfinefield.
