Thermal Excitation in a Spin Glass:Specific Heat of <Pt>___Mn Alloys

Specific heat of PtMn (3.0, 3.7 and 5.0 at.%Mn) has been measured from 0.5up to 20 K. Low temperature magnetic specific heat at T<<T. is not linear intemperature and is well fitted by A7'-I-BY". The coefficients A and B depend onMu concentration and A=13.6, 6.8 and 1.0 (mJ/K"=mole), B=9.0, 8.4 and 6.0(mJ/K"mole) for 3.0, 3.7 and 5.0at.%Mn PtMn alloys, respectively. This lowtemperature behavior of the specific heat can be quantitatively explained by aspin wave excitation. The spin wave spectrum was assumed to be given by thestep function.
