Magnetic Form Factor of Fe_3Al

The magnetic form factor of the ferromagnetic ordered alloy Fe3Al has beencalculated based on the electronic structure obtained by the symmetrized aug-mented plane wave method. The agreement b<:tween the calculated and theexperimental values is satisfactory. The average fraction of 3d electrons aroundthe iron atom with de symmetry is 62.5 '/, and that with d'7 symmetry is 37.5 '79.Thus the magnetic electron density is not spherically sytmmetric around thenucleus. The difference of the observed magnetic form factors for different indicesbut with the same scattering angles can be explained by this small asphericity ofthe distribution of magnetic electrons.
