Electronic Structure and Lattice Transformation in Ni_2MnGa and Co_2NbSn

概要

It is known experimentally that Heusler alloys, NizMnGa and CozNbSn undergothe cubic-to-tetragonal lattice transformation, in a ferromagnetic state and aparamagnetic one, respectively. We calculated electronic structures of Co.NbSn andNi.MnGa for both cubic and tetragonal structures by KKR method. Comparing thedensity-of-state of the cubic and tetragonal structures for each alloy, it is expectedthat the band Jahn-Teller effect cause the lattice transformation in both alloys.
