Bandstructures and Hyperfine Fields of Heusler Alloys

The bandstructures were calculated by the local-spin-density (LSD) methodfor the alloys Cu.MnAl, Ni.MnSn, Pd.MnSn, Pd.MnSb, Co.MnSn, Co.TiSn,Co.TiAl and Mn.VA1. We calculated the magnetic moments and the hyperfinefields for these alloys on the basis of the bandstructures. The peak near the Fermilevel of the density-of-states (DOS) curve is characteristic for Co in Co.YZ andplays an important role in determining the magnetic moment and the hyperfinefield. For Mn.VAl, the magnetic moments on Mn and V are antiparallel. Roughlyspeaking, the calculated hyperfine fields are in good agreement with the experi-mental ones. However, we evaluate the contribution to the hyperfine field frominner core .v-electrons small when we use the LSD method.
