On the Higher Interband Electro-Reflectance Structure Observed around 3.37 eV in GaSe

Electro-reflectance spectra of GaSe in the photon energy region from 3.32 to 3.44 eV have been precisely explored to identify the origin of new absorption peak at 3.37 eV at 90 K, which is currently observed unid entified elsewhere. The electro-optical spectra taken by the applied field parallel and perpendicular to c-zxis have been examined by comparing three possible transition processes on this edge. As a result of systematic analysis of the structure, this edge is attributed to the transition at an excitonic M_1 critical point.
