Anti-atherosclerotic action of Saikokaryukotsuboreito against apoE-deficient mice

本研究では, 動脈硬化症, 高血圧症, および, 各種精神症状の改善に使用される漢方方剤柴胡加竜骨牡蠣湯の抗動脈硬化作用について調べた。柴胡加竜骨牡蠣湯は高コレステロール含有飼料での飼育の開始と共に, ヒト一日常用量の10倍量に相当する量を体重換算してアポE欠損マウスに13週間飲水投与した。コントロールアポE欠損マウスは13週間の高コレステロール含有飼料での飼育により著しい高コレステロール血漿と粥状動脈硬化症を発症した。一方, 柴胡加竜骨牡蠣湯は高コレステロール含有飼料で飼育したアポE欠損マウスの体重, 血清総コレステロール値, リポ蛋白パターンに影響は及ぼさなかったが, 大動脈弓, 大動脈洞の粥状動脈硬化病変を有意に減少させた。これらの結果は, 柴胡加竜骨牡蠣湯は高コレステロール血漿改善作用は示さないが粥状動脈硬化の発症を抑制することより, 粥状動脈硬化症の治療・予防に有効な治療薬になる可能性を示している。
