The structural study of cynanchogenin and sarcostin isolated from the Asclepiadaceae plants, developed to extensive survey of C/D cis polyoxypregnane ester glycosides. The crude glycoside mixture of Cynanchum caudatum MAX. shows strong enhancement of cellular immunity and of phagocytic activity of macrophage. So, isolation and structure elucidation of five new oligoglycosides was done. Also crude drug Condurango cortex, the barks of Marsdenia cundurango REICH. has been used as an aromatic bitter stomachic and used against cancer. We isolated eight new antitumor active glycosides from this drug by effective use of HPLC system, and all the compounds were active against Ehrlich carcinoma (Solid type). The crude drug Dregea volubilis (L.) BENTH., native to Southeast Asia, has been used as an antifebrile and emetic. Seven new glycosides characterized by chemical and spectroscopic process were isolated from the stem of this plants. Among them, dregeoside-A_<p1> and -A_<o1> were active against Ehrlich carcinoma and the latter was also active against Melanoma B-16. The glycosides of the Chinese crude drug "Pai-ch'ien" Cynanchum glaucescens HANDMAZZ were investigated. Ten new glycosides named glaucoside A〜J were isolated and characterized by chemical and physico-chemical evidence. They were found to possess unique 13,14: 14,15-disecopregnane type aglycones and α-L-cymaropyranose in their sugar chains. In connection, the chemical constituents of "Pai-Wei," Cynanchum atratum sent from Kunming were examined. New glycosides cynantratoside A〜E were determined. From the roots of Cynanchum wilfodi of South Korea, six new glycosides were isolated, and the structures deduced on the basis of the spectral and chemical evidences. Wilfoside CIN and some other glycosides have the sugar chain which contains L- and D-cymarose within one chain.
