Six glycosides were isolated from Cynanchum wilfordi Hemsley (Asclepiadaceae) and their structures were deduced on the basis of spectral and chemical evidence. It is unusual that four of the glycosides include both D-and L-cymaroses in each sugar chain. L-Diginose is a constituent of their sugar chains, and the ^<13>C-NMR chemical shifts of methyl α- and β-glycosides were assigned by the selective proton decoupling (SEL) experiments. Two glycosides were isolated from C. africanum R. Br. and also contain both D- and L-cymaroses. They have the same aglycone, in which two ester groups are located at C-11 and C-12. Each linked position of the esters was deduced by the long-range selective proton decoupling (LSPD) experiments as shown in Chart 3.
