Anti-Helicobacter pylori compounds were isolated from Polygonum tinctorium Lour., which were identified as 6-methoxykaempferol, kaempferol, 3,5,4'-trihydroxy-6,7-methylenedioxyflavone and tryptanthrin by instrumental analysis. The anti-Helicobacter pylori activities of these compounds, expressed as the minimal inhibitory concentration, were 39, 39, 156 and 2.5 μg/ml, respectively.
